I can't believe how fast time flies. It's nearly 2005. I remeber when a year used to take a lifetime, when I was a kid. Now it takes a few months. So odd.

I found what I think may be the most beautiful web site on the Net. It is the site of the Earth Organization. When you go into the site and hit this page http://www.earthorganization.org/index1.html and subsequent pages, you'll see what I mean.

This is a new group dedicated to reversing the destruction of planet Earth. IT was founded by Lawrence Anthony who is a Freedom Medal Winner of the International Association of Scientologists.

There's a great story about what he did last year when he found the Bhagdad zoo had been abandoned.

He explains on this new site, that while the environment of zoos is not in alignment with Earth Organization's philosophy, the animals three were being left in their cells to die. The story can be found here.

Helping Addicts

For anyone who has experienced addiction, whether their own, or that of a friend or family member, they know that this is one of the real tragedies of our time.

The depths a human being can fall to, and the harm they do to themselves and the people who care for them affects us all - if not through direct acquaintance with an addict then by way of raised crime statistics.

What's more, the "standard" treatment for addiction today is more drugs - Methadone -- which is even worse (more addictive, harder to withdraw from) than heroin.

I wish I could share the experience I've had with Narconon with anyone who finds themselves in a situation of being close to an addict who needs help. Because real help IS available at Narconon. An almost 80% success rate of withdrawing addicts from drugs. Narconon was founded over 30 years ago and uses technology developed by L. Ron Hubbard

If you are reading this and know someone who needs this help, check Narconon out. It can give your friend or loved one back his or her life - and what could be more imporant than that?

Such a beautiful photo I couldn't resist posting it.

The photographer is Rev. Robert Costagna of the Church of Scientology of Boston. In addition to his photography he runs many of the church's community programs.

The Lesson of the Olympics

Billions of people watch the Olympics every 4 years. The Olympics is unique, on Earth, as an activity that promotes the welfare of the human family as a whole.

In Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard described the basic motivation or impulse of life as a dynamic force. He coined the word "dynamic" to describe this, and in his research he found that this thrust toward survival actually subdivides into 8 urges or "dynamics", one of which is the urge to survive as mankind. This is called the 4th dynamic.

The Olympics is a 4th dynamic activity -- one of the few that all nations participate in.

We have plenty of activities which pit one nation or group against another. And although there is this competition in the Olympics as well, there is also a feeling of unity.

Utah is an extroardinary state. This photo of Bryce Canyon National Park is an example of its rare beauty.

The Great Salt Lake is both the largest body of water between the Great Lakes and the Pacific Ocean and the largest salt lake in the western hemisphere-- it is the major remnant of Lake Bonneville, a large freshwater lake of the Pleistocene era (75,000-7,250 B.C.) that occupied much of western Utah.

There is a Scientology church in Utah as well -- the Church of Scientology of Salt Lake City.

Scientology in Nepal

According to this piece on Scientology Mission: Kathmandu, Nepal" from the Scientology Site

"The first Scientology Mission was recently opened in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. This resulted from the work of several missionaries who went to Nepal and disseminated to Buddhist monks, delivering a number of seminars on Dianetics at an ancient Buddhist temple. Following these seminars a Dianetics counseling group was formed, which rapidly expanded and is now a Scientology Mission."

I'm not surprised that the people of Nepal are so receptive to the Scientology, as it has so much in common with Eastern religions.

There's an interesting article on that here: Scientology: Doctrine of Clarity

Couldn't resist this picture. Growing up in the USA there's something completely magical about zebras - and especially seeing them in the wild.

Inspires me even more to do something about the dwindling habitats.

A beautiful English afternoon

England plays an important part is an important part in the history of the Scientology religion. It was at Saint Hill in East Grinstead, that L. Ron Hubbard made his home in the late 1950's and early 1960's.

The Church of Scientology International has long worked on Human Rights issues. It is ever part of the Scientology: Code of a Scientologist to "support true humanitarian endeavors in the fields of human rights."

One of the ways the Church works to support such endeavors is to promote the use of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Although most governments on earth have adopted this United Nations document, few enforce its application - witness the most recent violations of basic human rights by the United States in the treatment of prisoners of war.

One way that human rights can be made a reality is to educate youth on this declaration, and its application in their lives. To that end, the Church of Scientology sponsors a program called "Youth for Human Rights".

Here's an article on a new chapter of this group, recently established in India:

It's a beautiful time of year in Yosemite National Park Of course every time of the year is special there, but right now it's warmed up for summer and is just a bit ahead of the big tourist season. Great time to visit.
